If you're starting from scratch on a new build, tile usually wins long-term. If you're replacing an existing shingle roof, architectural shingles with proper ventilation are often the right call.

Either way — the install matters more than the material. A poorly installed tile roof leaks faster than a well-installed shingle roof.
